(Bridgeport, Conn. - May 5, 2015) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (5-5) pounded out 12 hits en route to a 10-2 victory over the Long Island Ducks (6-5) in the opening game of a three game series at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Starting pitcher D.J. Mitchell (2-0) had his longest outing of the season, spinning and six and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on five hits, walking two and striking out four.

The 'Fish got on the board early, scoring two runs in the bottom half of the first inning, as Sean Burroughs scored on a wild pitch thrown by losing pitcher Mickey Jannis (1-1), and James Simmons scored the second run of the inning on a passed ball. Bridgeport was clinging to a one run lead when they broke the game wide open, scoring three runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning, with the big blow coming off the bat of Sean Burroughs. Burroughs belted a three run double with two-outs, scoring Ryan Babineau, Luis Rodriguez, and Ildemaro Vargas, giving the Bluefish a 6-2 lead. The 'Fish added four more runs in the eighth inning, highlighted by a solo blast to straight away centerfield by Welington Dotel, his first big fly in 2015. The seven unanswered runs gives Bridgeport 30 runs scored and 37 hits in the last two games. Burroughs and Nick Van Stratten each had three hits to lead the way for Bridgeport.
