'Fish Fall to Revs in Series Opener

(Bridgeport, Conn. - May 28, 2012) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (16-15) were defeated by the York Revolution (12-17) at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Monday.

York's Michael Hernandez came up one hit shy of the cycle as the righthanded hitter was three-for-five on the night, drove in two and scored two. Brandon Haveman also came up with three hits on the night for the road team Bridgeport's Luis Lopez reached base three times on two walks and a single while Prentice Redman extended his on-base streak to 28 consecutive games

Tobi Stoner (1-4) suffered the loss for the Bluefish. The righthander completed six-and-two-thirds innings while allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks while fanning one batter. Kyle Zaleski and Joe Bateman combined for two-and-a-third frames of three run, five hit and one strikeout baseball.

Revolution starter, Shawn Hill, worked four-and-a-third frames and gave up three hits and two walks while fanning one; but the hurler did not factor in the decision. Yunior Novoa (1-3) picked up the victory out of the bullpen. The southpaw and three other relievers combined to allow one run, five hits, and three walks. Bridgeport struck out five times against the tandem,

The road team scored the first four runs of the night on extra-base hits in consecutive innings. In the sixth, Hernandez drove in two on a triple to rightcenter. Rodriguez contributed a double to the right of center to bring home two more in the seventh. The Revolution pushed three more runners across in the eighth including RBI base hits from James Shanks, Travis Scott, and Brandon Haveman.

Luis Rodriguez drove in the only run of the night for Bridgeport. The catcher's second hit of the night was an RBI single to left in the eighth. Rodriguez and Elliot Ayala, who made his Bluefish debut, were the only batters to pick up two hits against York pitching

Bridgeport returns to The Ballpark at Harbor Yard to continue a four-game series against the York Revolution on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The gates open one hour before first pitch. Tuesday is Kid's Eat Free presented by Big Y World Class Market.
