Delome Picked up by Braves

(Bridgeport, Conn. - May 28, 2012) - Bridgeport Bluefish team officials today announced that outfielder Collin DeLome has had his contract purchased by the Atlanta Braves organization. DeLome will report to Triple-A Gwinnett of the International League.

"Collin is a tremendous player that has earned this opportunity," says Bluefish manager Willie Upshaw. "We wish him the best of luck with his new organization."

DeLome appeared in 23 games for the Bluefish this season, recording a .368 batting average with five home runs, six doubles, three triples, 22 RBI, 22 runs scored, and five stolen bases. Before coming to Bridgeport, the 26-year-old began the 2012 campaign with Triple-A Oklahoma City of the Texas Rangers organization, appearing in 10 games for the club. The Texas-native was originally drafted by the Rangers in the fifth round of the 2007 amateur draft and has spent his entire affiliated career with the organization. His best season in the minors came in 2009 with Double-A Corpus Christi of the Texas League. Over the course of 467 at-bats, Collin recorded a .255 batting average with 20 home runs, 61 RBI, and 79 runs scored. In 540 career minor league games, he owns a .258 batting average and has slugged 77 home runs with 268 RBI.

In corresponding roster moves, the Bluefish have placed infielder Ramon Vazquez on the Inactive List and have signed infielder Elliott Ayala. Ayala joins the Bluefish for his eighth stint in the Atlantic League and 15th of professional baseball. The infielder made his Atlantic League debut in 2003 with the Road Warriors and has spent the last six seasons as a member of the Somerset Patriots. Before joining the independent ranks he was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 23rd round of the 1998 amateur draft and spent five years with the organization reaching as high as Single-A. Over the course of 1,009 career minor league games, the 33-year-old owns a .279 batting average with 215 extra-base hits, 550 runs scored, 345 RBI, and 117 stolen bases.
