Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - The first three games this year between the Colorado Mammoth and Vancouver Stealth were all decided by one goal, with Colorado victorious twice. On Friday night on HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center, in the final match-up of the regular season between the teams, it's wasn't close. Vancouver jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the first quarter, and never looked back.
"Defensively, we had a lot of lapses that ended up costing us," said Mammoth transition player Cam Holding, who had a goal, an assist and five loose balls. "When you're playing guys like Rhys Duch, Lewis Ratcliff and Tyler Digby, and you give them open space in front of the net, they're going to score. We have to limit that."
On Valentine's Day, it wasn't just Vancouver's trio. Brett Bucktooth stole the show with six goals and six assists. Stealth netminder Tyler Richards had 39 saves in the 19-9 win.
Colorado was led by John Grant Jr.'s eight-point night. Drew Westervelt had four goals and one assist.
The Mammoth has a bye next week before taking on the two-time defending NLL champion Rochester Knighthawks on Sat., Mar. 1 at Pepsi Center. Tickets are on sale now.
