February 14, 2014 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Rochester Knighthawks News Release

The Rochester Knighthawks (4-2) will battle the Toronto Rock (3-3) on Saturday, February 15th at the Air Canada Centre. The 7:00 p.m. game will be streamed live on The Lacrosse Network's YouTube channel and broadcast live via Sportsradio 950 ESPN and www.sportsradio950espn.com.

Head-to-Head: The game is the second of three meetings between the two teams this season. In their previous meeting, Matt Vinc made 38 saves in a 12-8 victory over Toronto on January 18th. The Knighthawks put on a show both defensively and offensively against the Rock, which helped lead them to victory. The team won the faceoff battle, winning 54 percent of faceoffs. The Knighthawks also prevailed in loose balls, collecting 73 compared to Toronto's 65. Offensively, Cody Jamieson and Dan Dawson were the Knighthawks top two performers. Jamieson netted four goals and notched one assist, and Dawson recorded a staggering seven assists. Stephen Keogh also contributed to the 12-8 victory, tacking on four points (2+2). Craig Point was another key player on offense with four points (1+3).

Knighthawks News: The Knighthawks defeated the Buffalo Bandits last Saturday, 9-6, to improve to 4-2 and move a half-game out of first place in the East Division. Cody Jamieson led the way with five points (1+4), while Dan Dawson chipped in one goal and three assists. Dawson played in his 185th straight regular season game, which is fourth best in NLL history. Joel McCready also added one goal and three assists to extend his career-high goal-scoring streak to 12 games. Mike Accursi scored twice to give him three goals and one assist in two games since returning to the turf two weeks ago. In the win over Buffalo, Matt Vinc held the Bandits scoreless for 38:39 to smash Pat O'Toole's team record of 30:26, which was set on January 20, 2001 in Albany. "Vno" finished the game with 33 saves and allowed a season-low six goals. Rochester enters Saturday's contest allowing only eight goals per game, which is second best in the NLL. Vinc leads the league with a .821 save percentage and is second best with an 8.14 goals-against average.

Milestone Watch:

- Mike Accursi (362) needs two points to pass Shawn Evans for third on the team's all-time list.

- Stephen Keogh needs three points to reach 100 in his NLL career.

- Dan Dawson needs four assists to reach 600 in his NLL career.

Olympic Connection: Knighthawks Special Advisor to the President, Ted Nolan, is currently in Sochi for the 2014 Winter Olympics serving as the head coach of the Latvian Olympic hockey team.

Supporting Tucker: Last Saturday, the Western New York lacrosse fans rallied to support Tucker Williams, the son of former Knighthawk and current Bandits forward Shawn Williams. Tucker, who recently celebrated his 8th birthday, was diagnosed with Stage III Burkitt Lymphoma, a form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Rochester raised over $3,200 for Tucker through the sale of "Braver than Brave" T-shirts and the raffling off of a Williams' autographed, game-worn Knighthawks' jersey.

Toronto Notes: The Toronto Rock doubled up on the Philadelphia Wings defeating them 20-10 on February 7th at the Air Canada Centre. This marks the first time Toronto has scored 20 goals in a game since 2002. Garrett Billings and Rob Hellyer led the way for the Rock offensively, with a combined 20 points. Billings recorded 12 points on the night (6+6), while Hellyer put in a goal and notched seven assists. Nick Rose was impressive in goal for the Rock, saving 41 of 51 shots for a .804 save percentage.

Next Game: The Knighthawks will travel to Calgary for their lone game this season against the Roughnecks on Saturday, February 22nd. The 9:00 p.m. game will be streamed live on The Lacrosse Network's YouTube channel and broadcast live via Sportsradio 950 ESPN and www.sportsradio950espn.com.

Next Home Game: The Knighthawks return home on Saturday, March 8th to host the Philadelphia Wings at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are currently available by calling the Rochester Knighthawks' office at (585) 454-4295.
