First Pitch Event On-Going
September 2, 2006 - Florida State League (FSL1)
Brevard County Manatees News Release
Manatees fans, if you ever wanted to throw out a game's honorary first pitch, today is the day. We opened the gates at 6:00 am and have had a steady stream of fans coming out to throw pitches before breakfast. At last count we were over 2,200 and going strong. Kids are throwing to their parents, kids are catching their parents pitches and everybody is having a good time. Finish up your breakfast and come on out, bring the camera and your family and friends. Later today the Manatees and Daytona Cubs players will be throwing as well, so fans have an excellent opportunity for autographs on this final weekend of the season.
The record to beat is 5,127 first pitches set by the Madison (WI) Mallards in August.
Rock On!
