Reno Silver Sox News Release
The Reno Silver Sox lost to the Chico Outlaws last night, July 18, by a final score of 5 - 3. Tomorrow night, the second half begins, as does the Silver Sox quest to become the 2nd Half GBL Champion.
The Outlaws struck first, knocking in four runs in the second inning off of Silver Sox starter James Johnson. Johnson, still without a win, finished the game pitching 6 2/3 innings allowing four runs, three earned, and struck out nine Outlaws, while only walking two.
Down 4 - 0, the Silver Sox were able to cut the lead in half in the sixth inning. After, manager Les Lancaster called for a double steal with 2B Maurice Cole and CF Victor Hall, DH Juan Senreiso hit a 2 RBI double to left. Senreiso, who has been hot against the Outlaws, finished the night going 3-4 with 2 RBIs.
Both teams would add one more run in the eighth inning, keeping the Outlaws ahead by two, which in the end would be too much for the Silver Sox.
The Silver Sox return to Peccole Park tomorrow night, July 19, to take on the same Chico Outlaws in the first game of the second half. The Outlaws were the first half champions.
