First day of trades in QMJHL sees plenty of activity

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, December 19, 2005 (QMJHL) - The first day of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's trading period started today with several teams making deals.

The Chicoutimi Saguenéens traded Maxime Tanguay (88-11-16), their 3rd (acquired from Gatineau) and 6th (acquired from Victoriaville) round picks in the 2006 Entry Draft to Rimouski for Patrick Coulombe (85-04-23), Jean-Sébastien Côté (86-05-08), Philippe Roberge (86-08-02) and the Océanic's 2nd round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft.

The Baie-Comeau Drakkar traded Loic Lacasse (86-04-23), Jonathan Duchesneau (86-12-28), Alexandre Dulac-Lemelin (86-03-17) as well as their 1st round pick in 2006 and their 2nd and 6th round picks in the 2007 Entry Draft to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan for Marc-André Dorion (87-03-30), Alex Lamontagne (88-04-07) and the Titan's 6th round selection in 2006.

The Rocket were very busy as they traded to the Victoriaville Tigres their 1st pick in the 2006 Import Draft along with their 2006 4th round pick choice (acquired from Rouyn-Noranda) for Chad Locke (88-01-22) and their 2006 5th round pick (acquired from Halifax). Also, they traded Alexandre Boivin (88-05-25) and their 6th round selection (acquired from Rouyn-Noranda via Baie-Comeau) in 2006 to Gatineau for Geoff Walker (87-12-09) and Adam Macarthur (88-08-26). Moreover, they sent Yanick Charron (86-01-19) to Drummondville for their 6th round choice in the 2006 Entry Draft. Finally, the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies traded Travis Mealy (85-04-25), their 8th round pick in 2006 and their 4th round selection in 2007 to the Rocket for Michael Dubuc (88-06-29).

The Shawinigan Cataractes traded to the Saint John Sea Dogs Luc Melanson (88-09-14) for their 6th round choice in 2006.

The Quebec Remparts traded to the Drummondville Voltigeurs Maxime Joyal (86-07-23) for their 2nd round pick in the 2007 entry draft.

Then, the Drummondville Voltigeurs traded him to the Acadie-Bathurst along with their 1st round pick (acquired from Bathurst) in 2007 for Loic Lacasse (86-04-23) and their 4th round selection in 2007.

The QMJHL's trading period ends January 8th.
