Green Bay Blizzard News Release
Back at the start of the 2006 season, the Green Bay Blizzard introduced their newest program for kids, Bruiser's Reading Club. The Reading Club was designed to encourage kids to take an interest in reading, giving them incentives as they increased the amount of time they spent hitting the books. At this Saturday's game, the Blizzard will recognize the first graduating class of Bruiser's Reading Club.
The new program was to be very interactive with the kids and schools that took part, and was met with overwhelming excitement and participation. Bruiser, the coolest mascot in Arena Football, has visited various schools in the Green Bay Area to promote literacy and reading for fun to elementary students.
On Saturday, June 10th, when the Blizzard takes on the Stockton Lightning at the Resch Center, there will be a special awards presentation for the outstanding students who participated in the Reading Club. The Blizzard will be presenting an award to each of the top 10 individual students and the top 3 schools. Tyler Dutkowski, who led all Club members, will flip the coin to begin the game.
Here are the results from the first year of Bruiser's Reading Club:

Bruiser's Reading Program started in late January and ran through the end of the school year. Kids were encouraged to read not only in school, but at home for fun as well. They charted their minutes read and were awarded great Blizzard prizes for meeting their goals. The program's motto is "Making Reading Fun," and the purpose was to promote literacy in schools. Judging by the response, the program was a rousing success.
The Blizzard returns to action this Saturday, June 10th against the expansion Stockton Lightning (3-5). It will be Great Wolf Lodge/Blue Harbor Resort "Fanbana" Night, and fans will receive a Blizzard Fanbana as they enter the arena.
