Firebirds Re-Sign Shawn Foreman; Ball State Alum

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Firebirds of the Arena Football League have signed offensive/defensive lineman Rachman Crable and wide receiver/linebacker Shawn Foreman to one-year contracts for the 2003 season. Terms for the deals were not disclosed.
Crable (6-4, 280), a Ball State graduate and Indianapolis native, signed with the Firebirds prior to the end of last season, but did not see any action.
During his collegiate career, Crable totaled 161 tackles (24 tackles for a loss), four sacks and two fumble recoveries. He had his best season as a senior when he recorded 56 tackles (35 solo) and three sacks. He finished that season tied for seventh in the Mid-American Conference with 13 tackles for a loss.
Before coming to the Firebirds, Crable signed with the NFL's New York Giants, but was released after a four-month stint with the team.
Foreman (6-1, 205) originally signed with the Firebirds last April after being released by the expansion Dallas Desperados. During the 2002 season, Foreman had five catches for 29 yards. Defensively, he finished the season tied for second on the team with 42 tackles (29 solo). He also recorded two forced fumbles and a game saving interception versus the New York Dragons on May 4th.
Foreman began his AFL career with the Oklahoma Wranglers where he set team rookie receiving and scoring records. With the Wranglers in 2001, he grabbed 33 catches for 407 yards and nine touchdowns. Defensively, he finished third on the Wranglers with 31 tackles and also forced two fumbles.
Foreman has attended training camp with the NFL's Carolina Panthers ('00) and New York Jets ('99).
The 2003 season marks the historical debut of the AFL on NBC. The network will broadcast 71 games next season, including all playoff games and ArenaBowl XVII on June 22. The Firebirds kick off the 2003 regular season on Sunday, February 2nd on the road against the Detroit Fury. The Birds home opener is slated for Sunday, February, 16th versus the Chicago Rush live on NBC Sports.
