Albany/Indiana Firebirds News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Firebirds of the Arena Football League have signed quarterback Damian Phillips, wide receiver/defensive back Tyrone Brown, and defensive specialist Malcom Moore from the practice squad to their active roster. All three will be available to play this Sunday when the Firebirds travel to Grand Rapids to face the Rampage.

Phillips (6-2, 205) was originally signed to the Firebirds' practice squad on February 21st and was signed to the team's active roster the following week. In his only game, Phillips caught one pass for eleven yards in week five versus the Colorado Crush. He began his college career at North Carolina Central before transferring to North Carolina A&T State University prior to his junior season where he finished his collegiate career.

Brown (5-11, 170) spent two seasons with the NFL's Atlanta Falcons from 1995-1996. He saw action in nine games during the 1996 season where he started three. He finished the season sixth on Falcons in receiving with 28 catches for 325 yards and a touchdown. In two seasons with the Falcons, Brown caught 45 passes for 523 yards and a touchdown. Brown most recently played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.

Moore (5-10, 180) began his college career at Arizona Western Junior College where he was an all-conference selection as a defensive back in 1998 and a return specialist in 1999. Moore transferred to Murray State for his junior season (2001) and started all ten games at cornerback, ranking fifth on team in tackles (41.5). His career totals at Murray State include 113.5 tackles, seven pass deflections, three fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, and one interception. He also returned 31 kickoffs for 637 yards and 42 punts for 466 yards.

In other personnel moves, the Firebirds placed defensive specialist Del Lee on injured reserve, forcing him to sit out the remainder of the regular season. In addition, the team has placed offensive/defensive lineman Demetrious Maxie on the team's exempt list after he signed with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League earlier this week. The Firebirds also waived wide receiver/defensive back Brian Alford. Alford played in two games with the Firebirds where he caught six passes for 148 yards and three touchdowns.

The Firebirds are on the road this weekend for the first of a two-game road trip to conclude regular season play as the team travels to Grand Rapids to meet the Rampage this Sunday afternoon. The game will kickoff at 2:00 pm (Indianapolis Time). The game can be heard on the Firebirds' Radio Network, which includes ESPN Radio 950 AM (Indianapolis), WPZZ 95.9 FM (Franklin, IN), ESPN Radio 1130 AM (Brazil, IN) and ESPN Radio 1300 AM (Terre Haute, IN).
