Detroit Fury News Release

Auburn Hills, Mich. - With just two regular season games remaining on their 16-game schedule, the Detroit Fury of the Arena Football League can add to the current Pistons playoff atmosphere at The Palace by notching two victories and hosting an AFL post-season game for the first time in the team's brief three-year existence.

The Fury entertain the Las Vegas Gladiators at The Palace Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. with much at stake. The two teams are currently locked atop the Eastern Division of the National Conference at 7-7, with the winner of Sunday's game in the driver's seat for the divisional title.

"There's a lot of football to be played in the next two weeks," said the Fury's Senior Vice President Greg Myford. "The team knows the opportunity they have in front of them. Coach Luginbill will have the guys clearly focused on that. Let's face it, these final couple of games are what you prepare all year for."

With the recent wave of euphoria that has swept through The Palace at Detroit Pistons playoff games, Palace Sports & Entertainment now eyes the prospect at having two playoff teams battling for their respective league championships simultaneously. That occurred for the first time in April, when both the Pistons and the PS&E-owned Tampa Bay Lightning of the NHL were vying in their respective playoffs. Now the Fury hopes to step in for the Lightning, who were eliminated from the post-season last week.

One Fury victory in the next two games locks up a playoff spot, but a post-season game at The Palace is assured only by winning both remaining contests. The final regular season game for the Fury also takes place at The Palace on Friday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m.vs. the Orlando Predators.

The Fury (7-7, 2-3) are currently in second place in the Eastern Division and face off against division-leading Las Vegas Gladiators (7-7, 3-1) this Sunday, May 11 at 3:00 p.m. The Fury have two remaining home games (May 11 and May 16), and tickets for the Fury can be purchased by calling (248) 377-0100 or logging on to www.detroitfury.com.
