AFL Week 15 Injury Report
May 9, 2003 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release
NEW YORK â San Jose SaberCats defensive specialist/kick returner CLEVAN THOMAS needs just one interception to tie the AFL single-season record. Thomas tied a team season record last week with his League-leading 11th interception of the year in a win against Grand Rapids (1998, TOMMY JONES). Thomas has recorded all interceptions in only 12 games played (missed two games due to injury) and set an AFL mark with an interception in seven consecutive games to start the season.
In the two games he missed, opposing quarterbacks threw for 588 yards (294 ypg) and 14 touchdowns completing 62.2 percent of their passes (51-of-82). Since his return to the lineup two weeks ago, opposing quarterbacks have a 55.6 completion percentage (35-of-63) for 513 yards and 11 scores. Thomas has a pick in each of his last two games.
This Sunday on NBC (3 p.m. ET), Thomas and the third-seeded SaberCats face the No. 1-seed Tampa Bay Storm as the Drive to ArenaBowl XVII continues.
