Windsor, ON - The Spitfires are looking to continue the momentum into this weekend as they collected four out of six points over the weekend. Windsor defeated the Mississauga Steelheads, but lost to Saginaw and Sarnia both in overtime. The Spitfires will be looking to continue improving each and every day and have their eyes set on the Flint Firebirds. Puck drop is set for 7:05 pm on Wednesday at The WFCU Centre.

Head-to-Head:

The Spitfires head into Wednesday's game placed last in the OHL's Western Conference with a 11-20-3-0 record just 2 points behind Sarnia. The Flint Firebirds are currently placed 8th in the West with a 14-18-2-1 record just 6 points ahead of the Spitfires. Most recently, they faced the London Knights where they lost 5-3.

Wednesday's contest will be the second of six meetings this season between the two clubs. The Spitfires took the first matchup in Windsor with a 6-3 victory. Over the past five seasons, the Spitfires are 17-5-2-3 overall against the Firebirds and 11-1-0-2 at home.

During the 2022-23 season, the Spitfires had a record of 4-1-0-1 while the Firebirds had a record of 2-3-1-0.

Scouting the Spitfires:

Liam Greentree (NHL draft eligible) leads the Spitfires in points (46) and assists (24). He has 22 goals and 24 assists in 31 games. Greentree has a four-game point streak going with 7 points in during that span (3 goals, 4 assists).

Oliver Peer is second in scoring with 44 points. He is also on a four game point streak with 6 points over the last weekend. The overager is closing in on his 150th career OHL game as he sits just 3 games away from the milestone.

Jacob Maillet sits third on the Spitfires in points. He has collected 6 points in his last four games.

Ryan Abraham has been on a heater as of late as he has a six-game point streak. He has collected 10 points over that span (7 goals, 3 assists).

Cole Davis sits 4th in rookie scoring with 22 points (12 goals, 10 assists).

Scouting the Firebirds:

Their last time out, the Firebirds lost to the Knights 5-3. Coulson Pitre had a goal and two assists on the three Firebird goals. He was not named to the three stars despite having more points than the third star of the game.

Coulson Pitre (Anaheim Ducks) is tied for the lead on the Firebirds with 37 points (17G, 20A). He is currently on a seven game point streak with 11 points during that span (4 goals, 7 assists).

Braeden Kressler (Toronto Maple Leafs) is currently tied with Pitre in points with 37, he has 15 goals and 22 assists this season. He has been scoring his last two games and will be looking to get on the scoresheet on Wednesday.

Gavin Hayes (Chicago Blackhawks) currently sits third in points on the Firebirds with 19 goals and 17 assists in 27 games. He is currently away at the World Junior Championship for Team USA and will not be in the lineup Wednesday.

Looking at the tenders, Nathan Day has had the 80/20 split between himself and rookie Jacob Brown. Day currently has 12 wins in 29 games with a 4.00 GAA and a .859 SV%.

The Windsor Spitfires will go on the road on the weekend for a southern swing to Erie on Saturday for a 7:00pm puck drop followed by a Sunday afternoon game in Niagara at 2:00pm.
