Firebirds Check-In at #9 in the Kia CHL Top 10

Flint, Mich. - The Flint Firebirds come in ranked 9th overall in the Kia CHL Top 10 for Week One of the 2022-23 season, falling two spots from a week ago when they came in at #7.

This marks the third straight season the Firebirds have made the CHL Top 10, including a franchise record four consecutive weeks a year ago. The preseason 7th overall ranking was the highest Flint has ever been ranked in franchise history.

Led by captain and first-round pick Brennan Othmann (New York Rangers), Flint carries six drafted or signed NHL players into the year, also a franchise-best, including Amadeus Lombardi (Detroit Red Wings), Gavin Hayes (Chicago Blackhawks), Dmitry Kuzmin (Winnipeg Jets), Will Cranley (St. Louis Blues) and Braeden Kressler (Toronto Maple Leafs).

Flint is the third highest ranked team in the entire Ontario Hockey League behind just the Guelph Storm (#7), who the Firebirds had a 4-1 record against a year ago, and the Owen Sound Attack (#8), who Flint defeated in the first round of the OHL playoffs last season as well. The Mississauga Steelheads (HM) were the only other OHL team recognized in the Top 10.

The #9 Flint Firebirds hit the road for two games this week before returning home Saturday, October 8 at 7:00 p.m. against the Sudbury Wolves.
