Chicago Fire FC News Release
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (Oct. 25, 2007) - Over the course of the 2007 Chicago Fire Regular Season, the McDonald's Owners of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana and the Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC) of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana have continued to support the FireWorks for Kids Foundation (FWFK). Through the Golden Goals Donation Program, McDonald's has donated $100 to the FireWorks For Kids Foundation for every regular season goal scored at home (16) by the Chicago Fire. The FireWorks For Kids Foundation has matched that sum and donate the entire amount to the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana during halftime of tonight's Chicago Fire - D.C. United Eastern Conference Semifinal game (7:30 p.m. CT, ESPN2).
"The Chicago Fire and the FireWorks for Kids Foundation are proud to partner with Ronald McDonald House Charities® for the Golden Goals program," said Senior Director of Community Relations Donald Ortale. "Through this partnership we're able to support RMHC as they continue to build new homes and do great things for our community."
Cam Kennedy, Owner/Operator of McDonald's Owners of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana and Shane Johnson, Director of Development for the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana will be in attendance during tonight's game for a check presentation during halftime with Ortale. This year the Fire scored 16 home goals, so McDonald's and FWFK will donate $1600 each for a total of $3,200.
"Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana is extremely grateful for the collaboration of the Chicago Fire, Fireworks for Kids Foundation and the McDonald Owner Operators for their support of our charity," said Shane Johnson, RMHC-CNI Director of Development. Working together, this program helps support our mission of providing over 18,000 family nights at our four Ronald McDonald Houses here in the area."
