Palm Beach Cardinals News Release
The Palm Beach Cardinals and Jupiter Hammerheads begin a "Fins and Feathers" series on Friday, August 20th as the Hammerheads play host for two games at Roger Dean Stadium. The Cardinals will be the home team for the final two games of the series beginning on Monday, August 23. Game time for all four games is 7:05 p.m.
** Poll Worker Appreciation Night** has been rescheduled for Friday, August 20th. Poll Workers can redeem their ticket vouchers for FREE admission to the game.
** 88.1 WAY FM will be sponsoring "Faith & Fireworks" Night on Friday night.
** The Inaugural Roger Dean Stadium Kids Summer Reading Program participants will be taking the field to be recognized for completing at least four hours of reading during the month of July. Come out and congratulate the kids on a job well done!
On Saturday, August 21, the first 500 fans through the gates will receive their own set of FSL 85th Anniversary Silver Dog Tags. Make sure to get yours! Gates open at 6:00 p.m. for the Saturday night showdown.
**Election Night** has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 21st. Fans can redeem their vouchers for FREE admission to the 7:05 game.
** Country Crock's Crocky will be at the game on Saturday night to participate in the fun and festivities of Country Crock Night. Make sure to stop and say hello, pick up your temporary tattoos, and pick up a Crocky trading card.
FINAL DOG DAYS OF SUMMER IS AUGUST 28th
Roger Dean Stadium will host its fifth and final Dog Days of Summer promotion of the 2004 season on Saturday, August 28th. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. for the 7:05 p.m. game between the Vero Beach Dodgers and host Jupiter Hammerheads.
All dogs on a leash will have free admission to the game, while the ticket price for owners is just $7.00. Sections 210 through 213 will be reserved for all dog-lovers and there will be dog-related items for sale all around the concourse.
CARDINALS HOST LAST WEEKEND HOMESTAND OF SEASON
The Cardinals will play four games in five days against stadium rivals, the Jupiter Hammerheads beginning Friday, August 20. Palm Beach will then hit the road for a three game series against the St. Lucie Mets at Tradition Field. The Cardinals return home for one game on August 30 to host the Jupiter Hammerheads. WEEK IN REVIEW
As part of a doubleheader on Saturday night, Terry Evans cranked a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the Cardinals ahead as Palm Beach rallied for a 4-3 win over Vero Beach in Rick Ankiel's third rehab start at Roger Dean Stadium. Palm Beach split the doubleheader with Vero Beach as the Dodgers won the nightcap 4-1. Ankiel worked 3.2 innings allowing two unearned runs on two hits with no walks and four strikeouts in a 54-pitch no decision. Chad Petty picked up the win in 1.2 innings of relief allowing one run. Justin Garza picked up his seventh save of the season with 1.2 scoreless innings of relief. Kevin Estrada led the Cardinals going 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. In the nightcap, Jordan Pals took the loss in five innings of work.
On Monday night, Jonathan Broxton and a committee of relief pitchers silenced the Cardinals bats as Vero Beach defeated Palm Beach 5-1 at home. Josh Teekel took the loss despite a quality start of seven innings allowing three runs on six hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Reid Gorecki finished the night 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead the Cardinals.
Buddy Blair threw 6.1 solid innings leading Palm Beach to a 5-1 win in the nightcap, but a St. Lucie seventh inning rally took the opener 4-2 in a doubleheader at Roger Dean Stadium Tuesday night. The Cardinals won the nightcap by unloading for five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning off relief pitcher Tim McNab en route to a 5-1 win. Blair threw 6.1 innings allowing one run on six this with six strikeouts in the game. Terry Evans, Reid Gorecki and Catalanotte each had two hits for the Cardinals.
Solid pitching led the Cardinals to win the first game 2-1, but a walk-off home run by Dominick Ambrosini in the bottom of the seventh provided a 6-5 victory for the Manatees in the nightcap at Space Coast Stadium Thursday night. Tyler Adamczyk threw his finest game of the year in the first game win. Adamczyk worked 5.2 innings allowing one run on three hits with no walks and a strikeout. Anthony Rawson struck out two batters before Justin Garza achieved his eighth save of the season when Kevin Estrada turned an unassisted double play to end the game. In the nightcap, the Cardinals trailed 4-1 in the fourth inning as Greg Thissen hit a grand slam off Cardinals' starting pitcher Jordan Pals. Estrada was 3-for-7 with a triple, double and three RBIs in the twinbill to pace the Cardinals.

Wednesday is "Senior/Bingo Night" which features 2 for 1 admission on regular priced ($7) tickets for all seniors (62 years and older). Baseball Bingo is played during the game for prizes. Thursday is "Ladies Night" which gives all ladies 2 for 1 admission on a regular priced ($7) ticket. "Ladies Night" also features $1 hot dogs and $1 popcorn throughout the game and features prizes with the ladies in mind. Friday is "Party in the Park Fireworks Night".
