
Fink's Slam Lifts Captains to 5-2 Win over Whitecaps

Lake County Captains News Release
(Comstock Park, MI)- Grant Fink blasted his second grand slam of the season over the left field wall in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Captains beat the Whitecaps 5-2 on Saturday. The homerun was Fink's fourth of the season. Lake County has won back-to-back games.
Lake County (13-29) took the early lead in the top of the third inning. With runners on first and second base, Anthony Santander singled to right field and one run scored. Lake County led 1-0. The Captains only got one and stranded two in the inning.
West Michigan (24-18) took the lead in the bottom of the third. Tim Remes singled to start the rally. Remes moved to second on a wild pitch, and scored on a double from Tyler Gibson. The score was tied at 1-1. Gibson raced home on a single from Javier Betancourt. West Michigan led 2-1.
RHP Dace Kime (0-6) started for Lake County and did not get the decision. Kime twirled five innings and allowed two earned runs on seven hits one walk and two strikeouts. Luis Lugo (1-4) earned the win. Lugo pitched four innings and allowed one hit, one walk and five strikeouts.
RHP Jonathon Crawford (1-1) started for West Michigan and did not factor in the decision. Crawford pitched five innings and allowed one earned runs on four hits. He walked three and fanned five. Joe Mantiply took the loss. Mantiply (2-1) pitched two innings and allowed three hits, three earned runs and walked two. He struck out three.
The Captains will remain in Comstock Park, Michigan on Sunday to conclude a three game series with the West Michigan Whitecaps. Lake County will start RHP Jordan Milbrath (1-3, 2.13) and West Michigan will counter with RHP Buck Farmer (4-3, 2.50). First Pitch is at 1:05 PM from Fifth Third Ballpark.
