Bees Take Down Kernels

(Burlington-IA)- A pair of three run innings propelled the Burlington Bees (19-21) to their third win in a row, beating the Cedar Rapids Kernels (19-23) 7-2 on Saturday night at Community Field.

Cedar Rapids jumped out to an early lead scoring a run in each of the first two innings of Bees' starter Clint Sharp.

Eric Aguilera put the Bees on the board in the second with a homerun to right, his second of the season.

With the Bees trailing 2-1 in the third, Mike Fish tripled in a pair of runs to left center giving the Bees a 3-2 lead. Eric Aguilera extended the lead to 4-2 with a double to right that scored Fish from third.

The Bees put together their second three run inning of the ballgame in the fifth inning. Mike Fish drove in his second run of the game, doubling in Chad Hinshaw. Later in the inning Brandon Bayardi would double in the run which then would be followed by a sacrifice fly by Exicardo Cayones making the score 7-2.

Bees' starter Clint Sharp (1-3) earned the win working six innings, allowing just two runs. Kernels' starter, Ryan Eades (3-5) was charged with the loss, allowing seven runs in five innings.

The Bees continue their series with Cedar Rapids tomorrow afternoon at Community Field at 2:00 PM. Garrett Nuss takes the mound for the Bees and will face Cedar Rapids' Ethan Mildren.
