Final Week to Determine Playoff Seeding
Published on March 11, 2013 under Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release
One thing is certain, the Spokane Chiefs and Tri-City Americans will play in the post-season as the two know they will finish in fourth and fifth place in the Western Conference. The rivals will use the final four games of the regular season to determine who will finish in fourth place and have the home ice advantage in the first round of the WHL Playoffs that comes along with it.
The Chiefs and Americans enter the last week of the regular season tied with 84 points. Of the four games left in the season, two will be played against each other in a home-and-home series this weekend beginning on Friday night in the Spokane Arena and finishing on Saturday in Kennewick. Both games will begin at 7:00 with Saturday's game being televised live on SWX. All four of the Chiefs remaining regular season games will be heard live on SportsRadio 1510 KGA, Everything Sports.
The teams will follow a parallel track in their remaining schedule as each will play on Tuesday night and finish the regular season on the road against a U.S. Division opponent. Spokane will host Prince George on Tuesday while the Americans will travel to Seattle. After the weekend dates against each other Spokane will play at Portland on Sunday and Tri-City will travel to Everett.
If the two teams remain equal in points then wins would determine the higher seed. Spokane leads Tri-City by one win, 41-40.
The upcoming playoff series, the dates which have yet to be determined, will be the third in as many years against each other and the seventh ever meeting between the two in a "best of" series.
Tickets to all home games are available by calling the Chiefs office at (509) 535-PUCK (7825) or TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT.
