From Monday, June 14 through Wednesday, June 16, the Fighting Saints will host their Select Camp which is open to all players ages 15 (Born in 1995) to 20 (Born in 1990). Beginning on Thursday, June 17 through Saturday, June 19, the Fighting Saints will host their Main Camp which is an invitation -only camp. The Main Camp will feature the players tendered prior to the recent drafts as well as the Fighting Saints' draft picks from the Expansion Draft, Futures Draft and Entry Draft held last month. There will also be some players that participate in the Select Camp earlier in the week that may be invited by Head Coach / General Manager Jim Montgomery to stay in Dubuque and participate in the Main Camp.
The players participating in the Select Camp will be broken up into eight (8) teams that will compete in a series of games throughout the day on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The players participating in the Main Camp will be broken up into four (4) teams that will practice in morning and early afternoon and then play games on Thursday evening and Friday morning and evening. On Saturday, June 19, there will be a Bronze Medal Game at 10AM and a Gold Medal Game at Noon. The week will culminate in an All-Star Game featuring the best of the best players participating in the camp on Saturday at 7pm. Each of the teams in the Select and Main Camps will feature a "celebrity coach" in addition to the "official coach" of the team. The "celebrity coaches" will include local media personalities, notable figures from the Dubuque community and a lucky fan that was recently selected at the Fighting Saints Stanley Cup Viewing Party last week.
"The camp is a great opportunity to see a number of highly talented players from across the United States, Canada and Europe" said Jim Montgomery. "We will have players traveling to Dubuque from other communities in Iowa to as far away as Europe. We will also get a chance to see the players we recently drafted and others we tendered and begin to see them in practice and play in games with potentially their future teammates and linemates. We'll be picking the team that the fans will see in a Fighting Saints uniform this season. Finally, this is also a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase Dubuque and all of the wonderful things it has to offer these players from quality of life, educational system, community support and the brand new Mystique Community Ice Center that some of these players will get to play in this Fall."
Admission to all of the practices and games is free. Fans attending the All-Star Game on Saturday will also be admitted free however volunteers from the Dubuque Youth Hockey Association will be on hand accepting donations. All fans attending the games should enter Five Flags Center through the Locust Street entrance.
