Fighting Saints to Host "Green Game" Friday Night

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Fighting Saints and DuTrac Community Credit Union will team together on Friday night as the team hosts its second annual "Green Game" to showcase its commitment to the environment and sustainability. The Fighting Saints will host the Chicago Steel at 7:05 p.m. Friday, opening the final weekend of the regular season before the team starts the Clark Cup Playoffs on Monday.

Throughout the evening, the Fighting Saints will seek to educate and entertain their fans on all things "Green". The game will feature recycling trivia (don't worry, the questions themselves are new), and an intermission recycling race, which will challenge fans to correctly sort through a collection of recyclables. The other intermission will feature a different kind of competition, with contestants racing electric cars around the ice and planting trees at the finish line.

Throughout the night, ushers will assist fans by collecting recyclables during stoppages in play, ensuring that as much of the arena's waste as possible is sustainably disposed of. Additionally, the Fighting Saints will incorporate the color green into the game presentation, playing tunes from Green Day and adding green lights to the pregame light show, among other references. Resisting extreme temptation, the Fighting Saints have refrained from replacing all concession items with green vegetables for the night.

In a Friday the 13th twist, the first 1,000 fans through the gates at the Mystique Community Ice Center will receive a Fighting Saints retro goalie mask as the Fighting Saints pay tribute to Jason Voorhees and the Friday the 13th films. A photo of the mask is attached to this release.
