Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons gave the McMorran Arena crowd a perfect home opener Saturday, as they beat the Jamestown Ironmen 9-0 in a game that saw many franchise records shattered.

One year to the day after the home opener of their inaugural season, a 13-3 loss to the Chicago Hitmen, the Fighting Falcons proved that they have the talent and potential to be a special team in their second season.

Twelve different Fighting Falcons registered a point, including goalie Max Milosek, who earned his first NAHL shutout in the process.

The nine-goal effort sets a new franchise record for goals in a game, beating a record that was just set in September in a 7-3 win against the New Mexico Mustangs.

Nico Sierra earned four points with two goals and two assists. Defenseman Ryan Nick netted a pair of goals in his first game with the Fighting Falcons after being sent over in a trade with the Traverse City North Stars.

Max Reavis, Kody Polin, Alex Globke, Logan Lemirande and Easton Powers all scored, some beating Joe Ballmer, others beating Curran McNamara. Reavis, Globke and Ryan Murray each had two assists, while Lemirande, Rick DeRosa, Mike Moroso and Alex Archibald had one.

Port Huron fired a franchise-record 49 shots on goal in the game, with 16 or more attempts in each period.

The Fighting Falcons' much-improved special teams units excelled as they held the Ironmen scoreless on six power play attempts, and scoring three third period power play goals of their own. Sierra's second goal of the night came while the Fighting Falcons were shorthanded.

Milosek stopped all 25 shots he faced, and watched as his team dominated the game at the other end all night. Joe Ballmer took the loss for Jamestown, allowing four goals before McNamara came on in relief after Alex Globke's penalty shot score at 16:17 of the second period.

Single game tickets are available now at the McMorran Arena Box Office. Tickets in any section are just $7 this season. Student, senior citizen and military tickets are only $6.
