Fighters Top Sioux Falls with Second-Half Surge
July 17, 2022 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Frisco Fighters News Release
With under a minute and a half to go in the first half, the Fighters stared down a 21-point deficit.
By pinning up 28 unanswered points, Frisco put away the Sioux Falls Storm, 35-28, and closed the book on the regular season Saturday night.
The offensive tandem of Dalton Sneed and Nate Chavious powered the Storm (8-8) out to the sizeable lead, initially opening the game's scoring not five minutes in.
Sneed threw another touchdown and both ran for one, as well, before the half ended. As time expired in the second quarter, Frisco (14-2) pulled with two possessions.
TJ Edwards and Justin Rankin scampered in on each of the Fighters' first two series in the third quarter, evening the scoreboard.
Edwards' three-yard touchdown pass to Sheldon Augustine put Frisco ahead for good with 3:56 to play.
Edwards finished the game with over 100 yards through the air and on the ground. His effort was key in extending what has become a lengthy surge.
The Fighters head to the postseason as winners of their last nine contests. That streak began against Sioux Falls, too, with a 57-38 triumph on May 14.
