Frisco Fighters News Release
Sometimes a team can learn more about itself in what it does after a loss than a win. In the Fighters' case, that seems to be a good thing.
Thanks in large part to a last-second 21-yard game-winning field goal by Bryce Crawford, Frisco avoided its first losing skid of the year with a 54-51 road win over the Sioux Falls Storm Saturday night.
The game featured six lead changes over the first two and a half quarters, with the Fighters (9-2) going ahead for good on TJ Edwards' two-yard surge with 8:05 to go in the third frame. Frisco stretched its lead to 14 points on Jordan Jolly's 37-yard touchdown reception early on in the fourth.
Storm (5-5) quarterback Lorenzo Brown found Draysea Hudson once and Dwight Blakey twice for air strikes that evened the game at 51 apiece with 39 seconds to go.
Edwards accounted for six total touchdowns on the night, including three on the ground. Jerminic Smith caught two scores and Martez Carter added another rushing strike.
The Fighters stay on the road next Saturday, as it will visit the defending IFL national champion Northern Arizona Wranglers. The two teams last faced off in 2021, with Frisco coming out on top, 33-30.
