Fighters Sign Defensive Anchor

FRISCO, TX - The Frisco Fighters and Head Coach Billy Back are pleased to announce the signing of defensive lineman Charles Williams to the 2022 roster.

Williams (6'2, 250) returns for his second season with the Fighters. During the 2021 season, Charles finished the regular season as the league's sack leader (11) and tackles for loss leader (17), earning 2021 All-IFL First-Team honors. He totaled 77 tackles, three pass break-ups, five quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, three blocked kicks and one sack fumble.

Williams played with the Sioux Falls Storm from 2018-2019. He played in four games in 2018. In 2019, he was second on the team with tackles (70). He totaled 10.5 tackles for loss, had four sacks, three fumble recoveries, and blocked five kicks. Williams was a member of the 2019 Sioux Falls championship team.

Williams played collegiality at Northwood University where he tallied 156 tackles, 17.5 sacks, 38 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, five pass break-ups and one block. He earned First-Team All-GLIAC honors in 2018 and Second-Team All-GLIAC honors in 2017.

"Re-signing the leagues most dominate pass rusher was our #1 priority on the defensive side of the ball. His production on and off the field is what you want to build your defense around, " said Head Coach Billy Back. "He told me last year during a game, Coach, you would love me on your team, and I had to admit that he was right."

The Frisco Fighters kick off their 2022 season on the road against reigning Champions Massachusetts Pirates on March 12 with a 6:05 PM kickoff.
