Frisco Fighters News Release
FRISCO - After suffering their first defeat the week before, the Fighters were looking for a response. The offense received that message loud and clear.
TJ Edwards went for three touchdowns through the air and another five on the ground as Frisco got back in the win column with a 70-56 decision at home against the San Diego Strike Force.
Edwards' contemporary and former Duke City triggerman Nate Davis had an impressive showing for the visitors, passing for 247 yards and six touchdowns. Both Kentrez Bell and Carlos Thompson had three receiving scores apiece for the Strike Force.
Thompson had both of the first two touchdowns for San Diego, which sandwiched the first of Edwards' ground scores. Charles Headen returned a kickoff to the house and Lionell McConnell pulled in a nine-yard air strike before the first quarter was through.
The score was tied three times in the second quarter, but Bell's 24-yard hookup with Davis gave the Strike Force a 50-42 lead at the break. The Fighters went ahead for good after Edwards found Headen from 35 yards out 39 seconds into the third frame, then followed that with a two-yard score later.
Martez Carter also hit paydirt in the win, while Jerminic Smith pulled in a touchdown reception.
