Frisco Fighters News Release
WORCESTER, Mass. - A trio of first-half offensive miscues proved to be too much for the Fighters to make up on Saturday evening, as the Fighters' season came to a close in a 43-22 loss at Massachusetts.
The Fighters got off to a good start as quarterback Jerrod Heard wheeled into the endzone on Frisco's opening march. In for a banged-up Josh Gable, Super Bowl XLIV-champion Garrett Hartley pushed a field goal attempt to the right on the Pirates' following drive.
However, shortly after Frisco took over, Heard had a pass deflected at the line. The hosts' Harlan Miller tracked down the floating football and walked it in for a score.
After the Fighters forced Mass quarterback Alejandro Bennifield into a safety in the second quarter, the Pirates picked up steam. Justin Stockton found the endzone on the ground then, benefiting from two Fighters turnovers, Massachusetts opened up a two-touchdown lead.
The Fighters were unable to overcome the 23-9 halftime deficit. Winners of ten straight, the Pirates advance to the United Bowl.
