Milwaukee Wave News Release
MILWAUKEE (Monday, March 7, 2005) â The Milwaukee Wave, of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), announced today that the fifth annual Green Jersey Auction to benefit Children's Hospital of Wisconsin is next Sunday, March 13 during the Wave's home game versus the Kansas City Comets. Special jerseys made for this 1 p.m. game are worn by the Wave team during the contest. Bidding begins when the doors open to U.S. Cellular Arena, and will conclude at the end of the halftime performance. After the game, each player autographs their jersey and it will be sent to the highest bidder. Bidding starts at $55 per jersey. This program has raised more than $31,000 over the past four years.
"We're grateful to the Wave and their fans for the support they provide to Children's Hospital through the auction," said Patty Flowers, Children's Hospital and Health System Foundation vice president. "The money raised helps Children's Hospital provide care for more than 200,000 children each year."
Recently recognized by Child magazine as the third best children's hospital in the nation, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin is ranked No. 1 in emergency care, No. 5 in cardiac care, No. 6 in orthopedics and No. 7 in neonatology.
The high standards and quality in services provided by Children's Hospital are the same principles that guide the efforts of the winningest coach in the history of North American indoor soccer, Keith Tozer and the Milwaukee Wave. The Wave organization is proud to support such institutions as Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.
"Having a child of my own has really put things into perspective for me," said Wave forward Todd Dusosky. "Whether it's for my son or the kids at the hospital, we [the Wave] will do whatever we can to offer encouragement for them."
