Fields Lands Workout With Green Bay Packers On August 11

ODESSA, TX. : The Odessa Roughnecks are excited to announce that Offensive Linemen Peter Fields will have a workout with the Green Bay Packers (NFL) on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 from the Packers training camp facilities in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

"I got the word from my agent Monday evening (July 27) about the workout and I'm absolutely thrilled about the opportunity. There will be more information coming my way regarding the workout but right now this is an exciting moment for me and everything regarding my professional football career." explained Fields.

There will be many great things heading Fields way as several NFL teams have shown interest in the 6'10", 335 lbs. former Odessa Roughnecks offensive linemen. According to the Green Bay Packers Training Camp Schedule, players report on July 31 and camp opens on August 1. There will be seven two-a-days scheduled in the first 20 days of camp and camp closes on September 1. The Packers are scheduled to have four pre-season games; August 15 versus the Cleveland Browns, August 22 versus the Buffalo Bills, August 28 versus the Arizona Cardinals and September 3 versus the Tennessee Titans.

The Great Britain native was scouted by the Odessa Roughnecks at the John Lestini Group Free Agent Tryout held in Mobile, Alabama during Senior Bowl Week in January of 2008. In his first season with the Odessa Roughnecks in 2008 Fields played in 14 games total (12 regular, two post-season). During that time he supplied protection for starting QB Dennis Gile, registered four total tackles including 1.0 TFL on defense and caught a six-yard touchdown pass on offense. Fields capped off his first season with Odessa by being named to the IFL (Intense) All-Star Team.

In 2009, Fields played and started in 11 games for the Roughnecks on the offensive line. Through out the season Fields provided protection in the passing game and opened up holes for the running game. Defensively, Fields registered 2.5 total tackles including 1.5 TFL. Fields played his college ball at European National.
