Wisconsin Woodchucks field manager George "Guido" Aspeitia resigned from his position Sunday afternoon.
Aspeitia resigns after leading the ¬ËChucks to a 23 - 39 record in 2011, with seven games remaining on the season.
Under Aspeitia's direction, the 2010 Woodchucks set a franchise record for wins in a season, clinching a playoff berth before losing to the eventual league champion Eau Claire Express. Aspeitia came into 2011 with a career .637 winning percentage, having gone 16 - 5 in 2009 as the interim manager.
With seven games remaining on the season, pitching coach Erik Supplee will serve as the team's interim manager, effective Monday, August 8.
