Indiana Fever News Release
The Indiana Fever and Connecticut Sun return from the WNBA All-Star break to meet this afternoon at Indiana Farmers Coliseum for the fourth and final time this regular season. Connecticut enters today's matchup looking to sweep the regular season series from the Fever.
Indiana was represented at All-Star weekend in Chicago by rookie forward NaLyssa Smith, who participated in the WNBA Skills Challenge. The Skills Challenge included eight teams, each consisting of one WNBA player and one athlete from the Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) participating in the 2022 Nike Nationals. The teams competed head-to-head in an obstacle course relay competition that tested dribbling, passing, agility and shooting skills. Through the first 20 games of her WNBA career, Smith is averaging 13.2 points good for second among all rookies and leads all rookies with 8.2 rebounds per game. Among first year players, Smith is also the leader in minutes per game (30.6) and second in 3-point field goal percentage (37.7%).
The 14-8 Connecticut Sun had three representatives play in Sunday's WNBA All-Star Game, which was a 134-112 win for Team Wilson, captained by Aces forward A'ja Wilson and Lynx center Sylvia Fowles. Sun forward Brionna Jones came off the bench for Team Wilson to finish with 10 points, and four rebounds in more than 17 minutes of action. Center Jonquel Jones led Team Stewart with 29 points on 11-of-20 shooting, 13 rebounds and five assists. Forward Alyssa Thomas came off the bench to add four points and eight rebounds in just under 14 minutes logged.
Connecticut will continue its post All-Star break schedule on the road at the Atlanta Dream on Friday at 7 p.m. ET.
The Fever will round out its regular season slate at Indiana Farmers Coliseum on Friday as well against the Minnesota Lynx at 7 p.m. ET. Friday will also be the last time Lynx center Sylvia Fowles makes a regular season trip to take on the Indiana Fever.
