Indiana Fever News Release
Indiana's nine wins (9-2) is currently the most in the WNBA. It is the best start in franchise history.
- The Fever boasts the longest active streak in the WNBA (79 games since September 2004) without more than two consecutive losses.
- Including its 77-67 win at Detroit, June 16, the Fever has won 21 straight games in which it has held the opposition to less than 70 points. That streak extends back to the last game of the 2005 regular season. The Shock's 67 points at the Palace of Auburn Hills dropped Indiana's defensive average to a 69.1 ppg, the lowest in the Eastern Conference and second lowest in the WNBA.
- Tamika Catchings' season-high 26 points and 14 rebounds against the Detroit Shock gave her three double-doubles in a span of just four days, and four double-doubles this season. Catchings is tied with the Chicago Sky's Chasity Melvin for the most in the WNBA in 2007.
- Not only is this the first season in its history to return all five starters from the previous season, the Indiana coaching staff has also remained intact. In fact, only the Connecticut Sun's coaching staff (five years) has remained intact longer than the Fever's four seasons. Since Brian Winters was named the Fever's head coach in 2004, his staff has gone unchanged and he has become the winningest coach in franchise history (66-47 in 4+ seasons).
