Fever and Dream Meet for First of Two Straight Matchups
Published on May 15, 2022 under Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)
Indiana Fever News Release
The Fever's Rebel uniforms will make their debut on Sunday afternoon at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, as Indiana hosts Atlanta for the first of two straight games against the Dream.
The matchup is highlighted by the top two picks in the 2022 WNBA Draft. Atlanta took Kentucky forward Rhyne Howard first overall, while the Fever selected Baylor's NaLyssa Smith with the second pick.
The Fever are looking for a third straight win to close the week after defeating Minnesota on Tuesday and then winning in overtime in New York on Friday.
The Fever recorded the greatest rebounding performance in team history in Friday's 92-86 overtime win. In the victory, Indiana outrebounded New York, 57-33. The 57 rebounds set a new franchise record for most rebounds in a game surpassing the old mark of 50, which was set against the Detroit Shock on September 4, 2009. Outrebounding New York +24 was also the largest rebounding differential in franchise history as well.
The Baylor rookie-frontcourt tandem of Smith and Queen Egbo controlled the glass and set their own history on Friday night. Smith's 17 rebounds and Egbo's 14 boards combined for the most rebounds corralled by two rookies on the same team in a game in WNBA history with 31.
