San Jose SaberCats News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose SaberCats welcome back two rookies to their roster as WR/DB RYAN FERNANDEZ and DS TREMAIN MACK were activated from injured reserve, the team announced today.

Fernandez had missed the previous four games with a knee injury sustained in San Jose's 48-27 victory over Arizona on Apr. 3. Before bowing out of the lineup, Fernandez was the team's leading tackler with 30.5 and a solid contributor on offense with 18 catches for 200 yards and five total touchdowns.

Mack, the AFL's Rookie of the Month for March, had been hampered with a hamstring injury suffered while intercepting his second pass of the game in San Jose's win over Las Vegas on Mar. 28. Mack was placed on IR on Apr. 14 and hadn't seen action since San Jose's loss to Chicago on Apr. 10. Both players are expected to see playing time in this weekend's pivotal matchup against the division rivals Los Angeles Avengers.

To make room on the roster, San Jose placed WR/LB YARDON BRANTLEY (hip strain) and DS WENDELL DAVIS (lower leg contusion) on IR. They will be eligible to return to the active roster in time for the SaberCats season finale against the Georgia Force on May 21.

Good seats are still available for Saturday night's game against the Avengers. Individual game tickets can be purchased through any Northern California TicketMaster outlet, online at http://www.ticketmaster.com and at the HP Pavilion box office. Discounted group tickets for parties of 16 or more are available by contacting a sales representative at (408) 573-5577. More information is also available at http://www.sanjosesabercats.com.
