AFL I Arena Football League (1987-2008)

AFL week 15 must-see matchups

May 6, 2005 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release

COLORADO OS DAMIAN HARRELL vs. NEW ORLEANS OS AARON BAILEY

Two teams fighting to make the playoffs meet when the Colorado Crush (8-5) travel to New Orleans Arena to take on the New Orleans Voodoo (8-5) this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on NBC. The Crush currently hold the fourth and final playoff spot in the American Conference and are tied for first in the Central Division. The VooDoo are on the other side of the bubble, needing a win for a chance to take over the final playoff spot in the National Conference.

Colorado OS DAMIAN HARRELL (6-3, 200, Florida State) has been the favorite target of QB JOHN DUTTON (6-2, 225, Nevada). Harrell, a three-time offensive player of the game this season, leads the Crush in all receiving categories. The former Seminole ranks No. 2 in the League in receiving touchdowns (33), No. 4 in scoring (198) and No. 5 in receiving yards (1,183). Harrell's current streak of 46 consecutive games with a touchdown reception is the longest in AFL history.

VooDoo OS AARON BAILEY (6-1, 185, Louisville) should see his share of passes from AFLWA Offensive Player of the Midseason QB ANDY KELLY (6-3, 220, Tennessee). Bailey has a League-high 118 receptions this season and is currently ranked No. 2 in receiving yards, No 4 in receiving touchdowns (28) and No. 5 in scoring (180). The former Cardinal has a touchdown reception in 12-of-13 games and is averaging 109 receiving yards and two touchdowns per game.

GEORGIA OS TROY BERGERON AND WR/LB DEREK LEE vs. TAMPA BAY'S SECONDARY

Southern Division rivals meet in a battle for playoff positioning when the Georgia Force (9-4) travel to Philips Arena to take on the No. 5 ranked defense of the Tampa Bay Storm (8-5) this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on NBC. The Force would remain on top of the division with a win, while the Storm can take over the division-lead with a win and an Orlando loss.

Thunder and Lightning, Georgia's rookie duo of WR/LB DEREK LEE (6-5, 215, Tennessee Tech) and OS TROY BERGERON (6-2, 180 Middle Tennessee State), will look to take another step towards their first AFL playoff appearance against one of the toughest defenses in the League. No other combination of receivers have caught more passes this season than Bergeron and Lee (54). Currently, both rookies rank in the Top 10 in scoring (Lee 170, Bergeron 164).

Mid-season acquisition WR/LB CHRIS JACKSON (6-2, 215, Washington State) is yet another offensive weapon at the disposal of QB MATT NAGY (6-2, 220 Delaware). In three games with the Force, Jackson has caught 31 passes for 363 yards and eight touchdowns. Jackson also has two rushes for 12 yards and two touchdowns.

The Storm defense, led by DS JONATHAN ORDWAY (5-11, 180, Boston College) and DS TRAMAIN JONES (6-2, 210, Angelo State) will look to repeat their success of last week when they held the explosive New Orleans offense to 36 points in a crucial divisional win. Ordway, who set a team record with 14.5 tackles last week, leads the League in pass breakups (27), passes defended (32) and is tied for No. 7 in interceptions (5). Jones ranks No. 2 in the League in solo tackles (87) and No. 3 in total tackles (96.0)
