Dallas Sidekicks News Release

(ALLEN, TEXAS) - Dallas Sidekicks forward Felipe De Sousa was named 2nd Team All-MASL after a breakout second season in which he was second in the league with 17 goals. He is joined on the 2nd team by Kansas City Comets forward Leo Gibson (8 goals, 12 assists) up top and goal keeper Hugo Silva (Florida), defenders Ray Lee and John Sosa both from the Kansas City Comets, and midfielder Charlie Gonzalez (Ontario Fury).

It is a major honor for the Brazilian born and Tampa raised De Sousa. He is also joined by 1st team All-MASL forwads by Ian Bennett of the Florida Tropics who lead the league with 19 goals and Franc Tayou of the Ontario Fury who finished tied for third in the league with 14 goals. The first team forwards teams finished with the top two records in the league respectively. The 3rd team All-MASL forwards are Nick Perera (7 goals, 13 assists) of the Tacoma Stars and Max Ferdinand (2 goals, 9 assists) of the St. Louis Ambush.

The major differences between De Sousa and the other five forwards on the All-MASL teams are age and experience. The other five forwards all have played many years of professional indoor soccer while the Sidekicks #93 just wrapped up his second year after scoring eight goals in the 2019/2020 season but in over twice as many games as the shortened 2021 season.

"Felipe (De Sousa) had an outstanding 2021 season," said Dallas Sidekicks General Manager Jesse Llamas. "He had a strong training camp and preseason Central Cup tournament with a couple of goals including a bicycle kick and then started the season with a hat-trick in the opening game. Felipe continued at that same pace throughout the season and we are thrilled that he is getting all the accolades he deserves."

De Sousa has the talent and work ethic to have a great career in indoor soccer. After such a magnificent 2021, we can't wait to see what he does for the Sidekicks next season and beyond!
