Idaho Falls Chukars News Release
IDAHO FALLS, ID - Despite two home runs from Matt Feinstein, the Idaho Falls Chukars (16-8) were unable to comeback against the Missoula Paddleheads (15-9) in a 13-8 defeat on Tuesday night at Melaleuca Field. The Chukars' fielding didn't help the comeback effort, committing four errors over nine innings.
Missoula opened up the game with a Kamron Willman RBI single to score Brandon Riley, taking an early 1-0 lead against starter Joe Slocum (L, 2-1).
The Chukars countered in the home half with a towering home-run from Feinstein against Rafael Monsion (W, 2-1) to tie it up 1-1 going into the second.
However in the second, the Paddleheads tagged Slocum with five runs, four of them unearned on four hits and two Chukars errors that made it 6-1. Missoula added on two more runs against Slocum on a two-run homer from Lamar Sparks in the fifth that grew the lead to 8-1.
Idaho Falls did not go quietly, as in the fifth Feinstein blasted a solo homer against Monsion, his second of the game to cut into the lead 8-2. The second homer made it the second time Feinstein has had a multi-home run game for the Chukars, the only hitter to do so this season.
Missoula added to their lead in the sixth on a two-run single from Willman that made it 10-2.
In the seventh, the Chukars attempted to rally a comeback. Facing reliever Zachary Smith, Eric Callahan ledoff the inning with a double, and came around to score on a wild pitch that cut into the deficit, 10-3. Feinstein doubled, and advanced to third on a groundout from Hunter Hisky. Calvin Estrada and Brady West belted back-to-back doubles to jumpstart the rally, making it 10-6. Dusty Stroup connected with a single to make it a three-run game, 10-7. Smith was removed from the game, replaced with Sam Hellinger who ended the inning for the Chukars.
The Paddleheads scored three more insurance runs over the last two innings, keeping the Chukars at bay, winning 13-8. West finished a home run shy of the cycle.
The series continues today with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The game can be viewed on the Idaho Falls Chukars YouTube channel, and heard on KSPZ The Sports Zone. Both starters are TBD.
