2022-23 BATTALION REGULAR-SEASON SUMMARY

FIRST GOAL: The Battalion is 26-0-1 when scoring the first goal of a game and 11-16-2 when the opposing team scores first.

AFTER TWO PERIODS: The Battalion is 27-1-1 when leading after two periods, 2-15-0 when trailing after the second, and 8-0-2 when tied at the end of the second.

ONE-GOAL DECISIONS: The Battalion is 8-5-3 in games decided by one goal.

TROOPS 2ND IN OFFENCE: The Battalion ranks 2nd in OHL scoring with an average of 4.20 goals per game (235 in 56 games), trailing the Windsor Spitfires at 4.73 (265 in 56 games).

BATTALION 2ND IN DEFENCE: The Battalion has the 2nd-best defensive record in the OHL, allowing 160 goals in 56 games for an average of 2.86, trailing the Ottawa 67's (139 against in 56 games for 2.48).

POWER PLAY: The Battalion is 12th in power-play efficiency with a scoring percentage of 21.5. The Troops have scored 44 goals on 205 opportunities.

PENALTY KILLING: The Battalion is 1st in penalty-killing with an effectiveness of 87.5 percent. The Troops have allowed 29 power-play goals during 232 times shorthanded.

PENALTY MINUTES: The Battalion is the 6th-most penalized team in the OHL, averaging 12.1 minutes per game.

EVEN STRENGTH: The Battalion has scored 191 goals at even strength or when shorthanded, and surrendered 131 goals at even strength or with the man advantage.

SHORTHANDED GOALS: The Battalion is tied with Flint and Mississauga for the league-lead with 13 shorthanded goals, including four by Nikita Tarasevich ... The Battalion is five points ahead of its pace of 2021-22 when the Troops finished first in the Central Division and third overall in the OHL with a record of 43-18-7 for 93 points in 68 games. The Battalion won 2-1 against the visiting Mississauga Steelheads in its 57th game last season.

TROOPS AMONG OHL LEADERS:

MATVEY PETROV: Left winger Petrov has 25 goals and 54 assists for 79 points in 54 games and is tied for 4th in the OHL scoring race. He's 3rd in assists (54), tied 5th in power-play assists (21), and 9th in plus-minus (+27).

KYLE JACKSON: Overage centre Jackson has 28 goals and 43 assists for 71 points in 56 games and is tied for 13th in the OHL scoring race.

TY NELSON: Defenceman Nelson has 20 goals and 44 assists for 64 points in 56 games and is second in assists (44) and points (64) by rearguards and tied for 3rd in goals (20) by defencemen. He is 4th among all players with 252 shots on goal and tied 10th in assists (44).

JOSH BLOOM: Left winger Bloom has 26 goals and 32 assists for 58 points in 58 games with the Battalion and Saginaw Spirit and is tied with teammate Nikita Tarasevich and Max McCue of London for the OHL lead, each with four shorthanded goals.

PAUL CHRISTOPOULOS: Defenceman Christopoulos has two goals and 18 assists for 20 points in 56 games and leads the OHL in plus-minus (+46).

NIKITA TARASEVICH: Right winger Tarasevich has 13 goals and 23 assists for 36 points, all career highs, in 53 games. He is tied with teammate Josh Bloom and Max McCue of London for the OHL lead with four shorthanded goals.

DOM DiVINCENTIIS: Goaltender DiVincentiis is 30-8-2 with is 2.38 goals-against average and .916 save percentage. He leads all netminders in wins (30) and average (2.38) and is 2nd in save percentage (.916).
