FC Dallas News Release
FRISCO, Texas (Wednesday, February 18, 2009) - The FC Dallas Juniors U-16 and U-18 teams have remained busy while on winter break from the U.S. Soccer Development Academy schedule. Both teams continue to participate in friendly games and inter-squad scrimmages while maintaining four days of practice each week. Recent news and highlights of both FCD Juniors teams can be found below.
FIVE PLAYERS ADDED
The Juniors U-16 team has added U.S. U-15 national team midfielder Matthew Dunn, former Dallas Texans midfielder Marco Carrizales, Jose Gamino from Solar Soccer Club, and former Longhorns Soccer Club player Daniel Garcia. In addition, FC Dallas Youth forward Matt Bonano has joined the FCD Juniors U-18 team.
DUNN IN U.S. U-15 CAMP
Recent addition Dunn is currently in Bradenton, FL for U.S. U-15 national team camp through Sunday, Feb. 22. The young midfielder is one of 36 players in attendance for the team's first camp of 2009.
FOUR INVITED TO BRAZIL
Four Juniors players will join the FCD first team on an upcoming trip to Curitiba, Brazil for preseason training at the home of Clube Atletico Paranaense from Feb. 26 - March 6. Making the trip are U-16 players Victor Ulloa, Chris Figueroa, and Darin Kruzich; and Cody Adams from the U-18 team.
SATURDAY SCRIMMAGES
On Saturday, Feb. 21 the U-18 team will face an all-star team from the Hispanic Independent Leagues on Pizza Hut Park Field #2 at 2:30 p.m. CT. Immediately following that game, the U-16's will face Andromeda Soccer Club at 4:30 p.m. CT, also on Field #2.
DR PEPPER DALLAS CUP XXX
The FCD Juniors teams will participate in the Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXX youth tournament, Sunday April 5-12, at Pizza Hut Park. The prestigious tournament features the top youth professional and amateur teams from the United States, Brazil, England, Japan, Mexico, Germany, and more.
SPRING CAMPAIGN KICKS OFF IN MARCH
The FCD Juniors will resume U.S. Soccer Development Academy play on Saturday, March 21 versus the Real Colorado U-16 (2 p.m. CT) and U-18 (4 p.m. CT) teams at Pizza Hut Park prior to the professional team's home opener versus the Chicago Fire at 7:30 p.m. CT.
