FC Cincinnati News Release
BRADENTON, Fla. - FC Cincinnati went undefeated at the IMG Suncoast Pro Classic, winning the tournament in decisive fashion with a 4-0 decision over Danish club HB Køge Saturday at the IMG Academy.
Following a scoreless first half, FCC broke through on a penalty kick from Andrew Wiedeman in the 57th minute after Sean Okoli was brought down in the box by HB Køge's starting goalkeeper.
Wiedeman also figured in the club's goal in the 64th minute. Midfielder Paul Nicholson (Whitehaven, England) played a ball into Wiedeman, who flicked a pass to Jimmy McLaughlin (Malvern, PA) and the midfielder took care of the rest, sending the ball into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.
It was Wiedeman's night as the San Ramon, Calif. product made his presence known again by connecting with Nicholson in the 77th minute. Wiedeman was the recipient of a pass from Nicholson, who played a ball over the Danish defense and the forward sent home a shot from 15-yards out to come away from his second goal of the night.
FCC would cap the scoring in the 89th minute. Midfielder Omar Mohamed (Columbus, OH) found Luke Spencer (Cincinnati, OH) and the former Xavier standout cut the ball back from the end line with Jamie Dell (Toronto, Ontario) completing the play by tucking the ball inside the far post.
FCC opened the tournament with a 2-2 draw against KR ReykjavÃ-k (Iceland) and defeated New York City FC, 2-1 this past Wednesday before registering tonight's 4-0 win.
