POST GAME QUOTES
FC Cincinnati 2 Head Coach Tyrone Marshall
His thoughts on the first MLS NEXT Pro match for FC Cincinnati 2
"Yeah, it was great to get the game out of the way, obviously, we've been waiting six weeks to get that done. Excited for the young boys, they had the opportunity to play in their first pro game, in a sense, the academy boys. Not exactly the result we wanted, saw some good stuff out there. It's a work in progress still need players to build out a roster, we're getting a complement of first-team guys who haven't had minutes to come down and help. Overall, I thought it was a decent game. Moving forward, we look to improve, we look to get better with the younger boys and their decision making. But overall, I thought it was a good start for young boys. But we'll grow and get better as the season progresses."
On players coming from Charlotte yesterday, as well as players making their pro debuts
"Like I said, I think the group is in a good spot. Obviously, I think we need to add some more players to the group as we move forward. We need a little bit more experience with the younger boys to help guide them. This is what this league is going to be, trying to grow the younger players. So, there's going to be some learning curve, some disappointment, but it's how do you rebound? How do you react, come the next game?"
On the takeaways heading into the home opener
"The takeaway is this, again, seeing some of the boys and who has the potential. Obviously, some things that we need to work on. And just keep grinding with the players that come down from the first team to help us. To keep sending the right message, creating that little culture that we want them to bring with them, to be the professionals that are coming down to be and help guide the young players. I think that's the most important thing. So, the messaging, just keep instilling that message and hopefully going into the first game we can see some results."
