January 24, 2005 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Lubbock GunSlingers News Release
LUBBOCK, TX. It's that time of year again when aspiring athletes fasten their chinstraps and lace up their shoes for their love of the game in hopes of one day being the next Kurt Warner. Warner, the most notable player to come out of indoor football into the NFL, and former MVP quarterback and Super Bowl champion of the St. Louis Rams, had previously quarterbacked the Iowa Barnstormers of the AFL.
The Lubbock Lone Stars have scheduled a press conference for Wednesday, January 26th, 2005 at the Copper Caboose off of 56th and Avenue Q at 2:00 pm to announce a date and time for player tryouts, cheerleader tryouts, and the 2005 season schedule. "We're excited for the 2005 season," said head coach Mike Buck! "Last year, we had a lot of local players tryout for the team, and we hope to have even more this year."
In addition, the Lone Stars would like to introduce its new front office staff to the media. Food and drinks will be provided for all members of the media, and fans are encouraged to attend.
The Lone Stars will kickoff their second season on the road in Corpus Christi on March 21st, and play two more road games before the home opener against the Beaumont Drillers on April 9th. Season tickets and corporate packages are on sale now.
Call the Lone Stars office at (806) 771-7277 for more information.
