Local Talent Joins Gunslingers' Huddle

Lubbock , TX , January 6, 2006 - With the start of training camp approaching, the Lubbock Gunslingers General Manager Tiffany Hurd, looking to add even stronger and more physical players to their team, recently signed Texas Tech graduate and current freshman coach for the Monterey Football program, Jeff Lofton.

Lofton was a walk-on at the linebacker and fullback positions for Texas Tech Red Raiders Football during the 1999 and 2000 spring practices. After graduation in 2002, he participated in the 2002 NFL Scout Camp Regional Combine and in 2005 was invited to the NFL Elite Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana where he excelled by surpassing most of the pro-minimum and elite standards (see attached).

"Jeff exhibits exceptional physical strength," Gunslingers' owner Todd Hurd said. "He's very quick and extremely agile, just the kind of caliber athlete that Lubbock needs on display."

In addition to his coaching position for the Monterey Football Program, Jeff is currently a history teacher at O.L. Slaton Junior High in Lubbock. Since graduating Texas Tech he has become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength & Conditioning Association. He resides locally with his wife Jenni and eight-month old daughter Kenzi.

Ties That Bind

Lofton has always been tied to the Lubbock area. He graduated from Idalou High School in 1997 as Salutatorian where he was a three year letterman as fullback and middle linebacker for the Idalou "Wildcats." During his high school career he received numerous awards including first team All-District Defensive MVP, All South plains Linebacker, and Honorable Mention All-State Linebacker.
