Lubbock GunSlingers News Release
Lubbock, TX, December 14, 2005 - Laughing Children Smile is the Lubbock Gunslingers campaign to gather much needed items throughout the year for The Children's Home of Lubbock. For the Holiday Season, the Gunslingers will be collecting donations of new and used (must be in good condition) athletic equipment. The Gunslingers have teamed up with Champs Sports and Cardinal's Sports Center in the South Plains Mall on Saturday, December 17 from 9:30 am until 9:00 pm, where together they will be collecting donations for The Children's Home.
Gunslingers' players, including defensive lineman John Humphreys, wide receivers T.J. Glover and Darren Hamilton, along with Klemke the team's mascot, will be in the stores from 11 am to 2 pm, greeting customers and signing autographs. Also, a raffle will take place for Gunslingers' season tickets.
The Children's Home has been caring for kids and families in need since 1900. Today, The home is a state-of-the-art residential treatment center, special education school, and family treatment center, providing care for children ages five to eighteen. "This campaign is a blessing for the children. Toys are wonderful, but there are so many other items the children need during the year," said Debra Rogers, Unit Director of The Children's Home. "We are just thrilled that the Gunslingers have become a part of our family."
Some of the sporting goods needed are football, tennis, baseball/softball, soccer, and basketball equipment. Visit the Gunslingers website www.lubbockgunslingers.com for a complete list of needed items. Monetary gifts and gift cards from any sporting goods store will also be accepted. Please join the Gunslingers in making the Children's Home of Lubbock a happier and healthier place for the children this Holiday Season.
Champs Sports is located next to Bealls and the $1 store. Cardinal's Sport Center is in between Mervyn's and Dillard's Women's.
