Fargo Force Week 4 Preview

October 15, 2021 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Fargo Force News Release

The Fargo Force (2-0-0-1) remain on home ice for another weekend after the exciting home opener last Saturday. The Force will look to carry over their success in a pair of contests vs the Lincoln Stars (3-1-1-0) and continue their run as one of the 5 teams remaining in the USHL that has yet to be defeated in regulation (Tri-City (5-0-0-0) Des Moines (4-0-0-0) Chicago (5-0-1-0) Dubuque (2-0-1-1))

The Force have earned 5/6 possible points this season, currently having played the fewest games in the league so far with only three under their belt.

Force forward Andre Gasseau (4) had a blazing start to the season, leading the Force to a 4-3 victory with his home-opener-hat-trick last weekend. The Boston Bruins prospect is the current point leader for the Force with 4 goals in three games for a 1.33 PPG average. Force rookie Cole Knuble also tops the board with 4 points (1G - 3A), the pair will likely be key components in both games this weekend.

Team Captain Tyler Rollwagen (12) has also been big for the Force this season, with a goal and an assist last Saturday, and as a key component of the Force PK and PP units.

Fargo has had a solid start to the year on the blue line, with big plays made from many players. Force veteran Trevor Griebel (5) has led the charge with an assist in each game so far this season. Some other key contributors to look out for on the Force blue line include Max Smolinski (8), Mason Langenbrunner (23) and Jakob Stender (6).

The Force are backed by goaltenders Hugo Haas (1-0-0-0) and Anton Castro (1-0-0-1). Haas stopped 22/25 last weekend for a 4-3 win over the Musketeers and Castro played in net during the Fall Showcase saving 15/17 in a shootout loss to Chicago and 32/36 in a 5-4 OT win vs Team USA.

The Lincoln Stars (3-1-1-0) head to Fargo fresh off two big wins over the Sioux Falls Stampede (1-4-0-0). Prior to last weekend the Stars were on a two-game losing streak dropping one to Tri-City 4-1 and one to Cedar Rapids in OT, 1-0.

The Stars are lead in scoring by two defensemen, Henry Nelson (2G-3A) and Jo Lemay (1G-3A). Lemay, a Washington Capitals draft pick, also himself the title of USHL Defenseman of the Week after his 4pt performance vs Sioux Falls last weekend.

Cameron Whitehead (1-0-0-1) and Kaidan Mbereko (2-1-0-0) are the two netminders for the Stars so far this season. Whitehead leads the league with a .99 GAA and a .968 SV%, saving 32/33 against Sioux Falls and 29/30 against Cedar Rapids. Mbereko has a 2.35GAA and .920SV% saving a total of 81/88 SOG. The Stars have a new look behind the bench this season as well with a new Head Coach, assistant coach, goaltending coach, and a new GM.

The Force kick off the weekend on Friday night with Whiteout Night, wear white to the game, plus the first 1000 fans receive a free Fargo Force t-shirt sponsored by CI-Apparel!
