Fargo Force Select 25 Players in Phase 2 of the 2013 USHL Draft
May 8, 2013 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Fargo Force News Release
FARGO, ND -The Fargo Force selected defenseman Cole Bjuson with their first pick, 43 overall, along with four other defenseman and 20 forwards in Phase 2 of the 2013 USHL Draft on Tuesday night for a total of 25 draft picks.
"We feel that Phase 2 of the Draft was very successful in filling some big holes our team will have next season", said Assistant Coach/Director of Player Personnel Jesse Davis. "We have a lot of players moving on to college hockey from this year's team and our goal in the draft was to find players to replace some key roles. Without having a pick until late in the third round we were still able to get, in my opinion, a first round draft pick in defenseman Cole Bjugson out of Roseau. The Fargo Force future looks very bright with the players we selected in the draft and we look forward to working with them soon."
Each year, the drafts are held in which every USHL team participates in several rounds to select players for the 2013-14 season and beyond. For Phase 2, previously known as the "USHL Entry Draft", teams look to fill their protected list with players who will compete for roster spots for the 2013-14 season. The Draft does not conclude until all teams have 45 players on their Initial Protected List. That list includes affiliate players from the 2012-13 season and players selected in yesterday's Phase 1 Draft.
