Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

DUBUQUE, Iowa-With the most important contest of the year on tap for Friday night's Game 1 of the Clark Cup Final, the Dubuque Fighting Saints are taking the evening to honor some of the area's most important heroes. In light of the recent bombings in Boston and the response by emergency personnel in the area, the Fighting Saints and Mystique Casino are presenting a Salute to First Responders during Friday night's 7:35 p.m. game. Members of local law enforcement, fire, and emergency management will be honored in a ceremony prior to the game, and the Fighting Saints will donate $2 from every individual ticket for Friday's game that is purchased on Thursday, May 9 and Friday, May 10 to the Dubuque County Emergency Responder Training Facility.

The Fighting Saints will be on center stage with the Clark Cup Final beginning Friday and hope to shine the spotlight on first responders who play an important roll locally and on a national level during times of tragedy.

"In times of great emergency, it is the first responders that rise to the occasion," said Dan Lehv, President of the Dubuque Fighting Saints. "Many of these men and women are volunteers ready to help at a moment's notice. As this community gathers for the Clark Cup Final, we're proud to do our small part in honoring them and supporting the training that is so critical to their performance."

Fans can help honor first responders by simply purchasing a ticket for Friday night's game. The Fighting Saints will donate $2 for every ticket purchased Thursday, or on the day of the game, to the Dubuque County Emergency Responder Training Facility. Operating since 1999, this center, located at 14928 Public Safety Way, allows law enforcement, firefighters, and EMS teams to train for real-life situations to prepare for emergencies.

Friday's Game 1 is presented by Mystique Casino, which is supplying the first 1,500 fans a Clark Cup Rally Towel to help cheer the Fighting Saints to victory.

"Mystique Casino is proud to honor first responders this Friday at the Mystique Community Ice Center," said Jesus Aviles, Dubuque Racing Association President and CEO. "We salute those that work tirelessly to provide our community with immediate emergency assistance."

Due to high demand, fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to guarantee the best seat location. Tickets to Friday's Salute to Responders and Saturday evening's Game 2 are available by calling 563.583.6880 or visiting DubuqueFightingSaints.com. Both contests will also be televised live on KCRG 9.2.
