Central Division Star of the Week: Ryan Fanti, goaltender, Minnesota Wilderness
The Minnesota Wilderness got back on track this past weekend thanks to a road sweep of the Brookings Blizzard. Veteran netminder Ryan Fanti, 19, was in goal for both wins as the 6'2/190 lbs. native of Thunder Bay, Ontario stopped 56 of 57 shots in the two road wins. On Friday, the NAPHL grad stopped all 26 shots that came his way for his third shutout of the season in a 3-0 win. On Saturday, he made 30 saves in a 2-1 win. For the season, Fanti has a 18-16-2 record with a 2.53 goals against average and a .921 save percentage. "Ryan had a terrific weekend. I can't imagine a better uncommitted goalie out there anywhere at this point. His attitude and work ethic are second to none and he deserves everything good that comes his way," said Wilderness head coach Dave Boitz.
