Fans Stuff the Ballot Boxes At the Hangar

Pensacola, FL - The Ice Pilots begin Mardi Gras weekend with a defeat from the Augusta Lynx. This is the last time Pensacola fans will see the Lynx in the regular season at the Hangar.

The scoring began at the 18:37 mark in the 1st period with Augusta Lynx's Dan Sullivan scoring his 15th goal of the season with an assist by Ryan Lang and Nicolas Corbeil.

Second period the Augusta Lynx scored their second goal by Chris Leinweber with an assist by Joe Pereira. Brendan Cook scored the Ice Pilots only goal at the 7:50 mark with an assist by Adam Courchaine and Chris Heid.

Dallas Steward earned tonight's "Dr. Harlin's Hardest Hit" when he checked into one of Augusta's biggest defenseman late in the second period, bringing the Ice Pilot fans to their feet.

With the Lynx on a power play, Nicolas Corbeil finish ed up the 2nd period with a pass from Martin LaPointe to bring the score to 3 - 1.

Sam Ftorek scored his 10th goal of the season for the Lynx helping close out the night with a final score of Augusta 4 - Pensacola 1.

Jason Wolfe was the winning goalie stopping 38 of 39 shots. Pensacola's David Cann was the losing goalie stopping 24 of 30 shots.

During the game, fans had a chance to vote for their choice for the 2006-07 Ice Pilots logo. The ballot boxes were stuffed with plenty of ideas from the eager Ice Pilot fans and will continue throughout the next few home games.

The Pensacola Ice Pilots players and staff will be in the Grand Mardi Gras Parade Saturday, February 25; 2 PM in downtown Pensacola.

The next Ice Pilots home game is Tuesday, February 28 against the Gwinnett Gladiators. Its Mardi Gras night once again at the Hangar with a parade on ice during 1st intermission. Fans can bid on the Mardi Gras specialty jerseys through a silent auction. The silent auction will take place throughout the entire game and fans can bid on the jerseys at Customer Service behind Section 107.

Fans can purchase individual home game tickets in person at the Civic Center box office, at any Ticketmaster location, charge by phone at 434-7444 or through the Ice Pilots office at www.icepilots.com. For group tickets, season tickets and birthday parties, fans can call the Ice Pilots at 432-PUCK.
